tl;dr1 if you want, you can have your name on this website if you want to stand up for peace, and you want to keep children in Gaza from dying. For free.
(tl;dr = too long, don’t read) But you should read.
tl;dr2 - this is different from other legitimate and heartfelt petitions insofar as we will vote as a unified front. I can’t control how you vote. But, if you want, if you enter your contact information into that form, I can tell you directly which local, state, and national elected representatives are supporting the mission. And those who are not. That’s the ace in our sleeves. And it makes us powerful.
tl;dr3 - this isn’t just for Americans 🇺🇸. It’s for anyone who wants to help, wherever you are.
Stand up for peace was created specifically to address the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East. It has to be done. At the time of this writing (in a church in Manhattan) there are over 14,000 babies that are at immediate risk of death in the next 48 hours.
Genocide, apartheid, and othering appear to be communicable diseases. It is done to one group, and then part of that group does it to the next. I believe that is what we are seeing right now in Gaza, where the Israeli people -part of a group that has been unjustly persecuted for centuries- are committing war crimes against Palestinians. Of course, they are attacking because they themselves were viciously attacked by Hamas on October 7th, 2023. And they are beyond justified in attacking back.
But attacks on civilians and kids are never justified under all circumstances. Two wrongs don’t make a right. No amount of moral or other injury justifies bombing a refugee camp, or reducing once vibrant neighborhoods to rubble.
One of the common false person arguments that gets thrown at us when we support humanitarian rights in Palestine we are anti-semites. That’s a joke - and a bad one. Because, from reading the Torah, I know that being good and caring for other people in no way conflicts with Judaism. Arguably, it’s the religion’s central point. But, don’t take my word for it. Hear it from Jewish people themselves. These people are great.
Part of the cycle seems to be that when people are attacked, they pursue a safe home, which everyone deserves. But, to obtain their safe home, they subjugate and attack others, just like every Zionist has been doing to Palestinians since December 31, 1947 (if you believe the internet).
Our approach shouldn’t be to take sides. In the existing leadership there are no innocents in either party. It should be to Stand Up For Peace. So that’s what I’m doing. And if you want to join me - to be an aid in ending a cycle of suffering and cruelty - then offer your information to the contact form, tell your friends to do the same, and I’ll add your name to the website.
The idea is simple.
Stand Up for Peace will never be a 501(c)3 non-profit. For two reasons: all my donations have and will continue to go to Doctors Without Borders and the World Central Kitchen. Those are the entities that deserve the money, I think. Also. this initiative doesn’t require money. All it requires is you, me, our friends, sharing with our friends, and faith.
The leaders of Israel and Palestine do not serve their constituencies. I genuinely believe, in my heart, that the vast majority of people in that part of the world truly do want a good, peaceful life, and a safe home.
So, let’s help them get it. Help me help them get it.
Here is how I hope this works, specifically:
1) This goes viral because everyone completes the contact form, tells their friends, and then gets their first name added to the website (unless you want both). Tell your friends!
2) We write a petition to put an immediate end to the aid blockade in Gaza. And that plan includes that the US and other nations will deploy military resources to protect innocent children in Gaza, if that is what is required.
3) We vote.
That’s it.
This might not work. But it can. If you just have a little bit of faith. But it really probably won’t work if you don’t enter in your information.
And it definitely won’t work if you don’t tell your friends.
If we continue to wave our hands and say things like ‘there is never peace in the Middle East and there never will be’ then the cycle will continue and many good, honest, kind and hard-working people will continue to die. Including many children in the next 48 hours. How can you justify indifference?
Yesterday an innocent, loving, young Jewish couple (Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischninsky) were murdered in cold blood outside the Jewish History Museum in Washington, D.C. I won’t stand for that and neither should you.
Stand up for peace ☮️✌️
Stand Up For Peace is neutral but positive. Demand an end to the aid blockade, and enforce that demand. Pretty simple. Those kids need you and me.
The only thing we’re against is violence, cruelty, and suffering.
Stand up for peace ☮️✌️
We believe that It Should Not Be Controversial To Plead for Gaza’s Children.
